About krh

Kristie Hunger began 'krhStudio' in 2004 after receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas Tech University. Ms. Hunger's primary focus was Jewelry & MetalSmithing with a minor in Painting.

Silver and copper that has been cast or forged then accented with semi-precious stones make up her body of work. The emphasis is on organic aesthetics often reflecting long-studied asian philosophies. This respect toward the Buddhist discipline and Asian art translates clearly also through her 2-D works. Her sense of humor and celebration of feminism is also evident in her pieces celebrating the 'average woman', such as 'The Bather' and 'Curves'.

"As I've matured my view has become more global. I recognize that, although we enjoy freedoms given to us by civil liberties, individuals (especially women) still do not have the autonomy and independence that most of us take for granted. Through my studies and research I hope to eventually use my artwork (and life) to assist in the emancipation of women in other countries as well as contributing to the welfare and support of civil liberties of individuals here who still do not feel free."
